Chapter 660

This was the largest battle Wu Shuang had ever experienced. There were already two hundred fully armed infantry soldiers in the forest, and their tactics and equipment were at world-class levels. They were one of the best infantry units globally; normally, it would take an army of this size to engage in land warfare with a small country in the Middle East. The infantry soldiers that had protected the convoy and engaged in combat in Somalia did not have as strong combat capabilities as these soldiers.
Moreover, Black Widow was providing air-to-ground support, firing bullets like they were free, leaving bullet holes and sparking fire everywhere in the forest. Wu Shuang didn’t even have time to open her computer; she had to keep running and dodging bullets. She had a gunshot wound on one of her shoulders, with two abrasions on her left arm from where bullets grazed it. She couldn't remember how many people she killed, but what she did recall was that the situation was extremely difficult for them, surrounded from all sides while also being supported by aerial resupply; escaping seemed impossible.
The situation turned out to be much more severe than Wu Shuang had imagined. This wasn’t comparable to her previous experiences of looting and solo missions. Even with Feng Yun still in good shape, the consequences would be unimaginable if Mo Yao and Xiao Bai were discovered.
Wu Shuang was familiar with the terrain here; she led the infantry army into a snake-infested area. She regretted not learning how to repel snakes from Xun Yue. Ye Kelan thought it was fun, so she wanted to learn it, and Wu Shuang was present back then as well, but she didn’t study it because she felt that there wouldn't be many opportunities to use the skill. Now, she realized her regret; learning one more lethal skill is always good, even if you never use it in your life, just using it once could save your life. Wu Shuang might not have been able to lead all the snakes out of their hiding place, but she had a way to draw them into the snake-infested area. Over thirty soldiers entered this zone and were chased by pythons or bitten by venomous snakes, causing chaos. They weren’t stupid; however, in doing so, Wu Shuang and Feng Yun also put themselves at risk because the venomous snakes would attack them too. This was a desperate tactic that might have slowed down the infantry army’s attacks but also endangered them.
Wu Shuang and Feng Yun were exhausted, but they couldn’t stop; after shaking off their pursuers, they rested in a ravine for a breather. Feng Yun reminded Wu Shuang that they had run out of supplies, and there were too many people for the equipment they had brought to be enough. With three against hundreds of enemies, their bullets would never last long enough. Wu Shuang only had a few magazines left, and so did Feng Yun; thus, their only option was to flee from the jungle.
Wu Shuang calculated that it would take some time for the infantry army to shake off the snakes and catch up with them. Soon, she heard machine guns on Black Widow firing at the snake-infested area intensely, allowing the infantry army to quickly break free of the pursuing snakes and catch up with Wu Shuang and Feng Yun. Wu Shuang and Feng Yun exchanged a glance; they felt an intense sense of despair as if they were going to die in this forest.
The pursuers kept coming while their supplies ran out. When another batch of infantry soldiers surrounded them, Wu Shuang and Feng Yun had no choice but to fight until the end. This wasn’t a one-on-one duel; any soldier from the infantry army could beat them in a one-on-one battle. Now with overwhelming firepower against them and no backup support, they couldn't withstand the bullets and machine guns.
Wu Shuang only had one last bullet left; under such circumstances, she used it to end her life swiftly before retreating. The soldiers behind them anticipated that their supplies were running out, so they made a sudden charge forward.
Suddenly, several people appeared from the ravine’s sides and protected Wu Shuang and Feng Yun within their firing range. Such intense suppression forced back the infantry army; this was clearly an ambush set up by someone who had been waiting to provide support. Wu Shuang and Feng Yun stopped for a rest, finally no longer needing to run. This place seemed like a good spot for standoff, and in the greenery, Wu Shuang saw the face she longed for day and night; she ran over and hugged him tightly. Kaka bent down to kiss her lips fiercely; gunshots around them seemed to fade away as they could only see each other amidst the chaos of war.
How long has it been since they were entangled Kaka released her and smiled gently, "You look so disheveled. Go rest for a while, bandage your wounds. The rest is on me."
Kaka didn’t say much more; she commanded everyone to quickly regroup and change their formation. She was determined to keep them blocked here in this canyon – it was the perfect ambush spot Kaka had identified from the map. Clearly all eight of them could hold off the others, but the only concern was the Black Widows and the fighter jets.
With clear skies, it was ideal for the Black Widows to strafe their positions. So when Kaka’s land forces retreated, she ordered her machine gunners to get ready. Wu Shuang was too exhausted from fighting; she lay down beside them to rest. Gui Mian asked how she was doing, and she shook her head while pointing up at the planes in the sky. "Count on you now. Your sniper rifle has a range of 2000 meters – take out that batch of Black Widows."
Gui Mian replied with a small joke, “Yes, my queen.”
All eight Black Widow planes were circling above them; their machine guns and cabin doors were all open. In addition to the automatic machine gunners, there were army soldiers standing by the cabin doors on the side, raining bullets down like rain.
Both sides had suffered casualties from such intense strafing fire – it was impossible for everyone to avoid being hit. Kaka’s side had four machine gunners; the mafia side had three, and with Gui Mian’s terrifying sniper rifle, that made a total of eight people. It just so happened there were also eight Black Widows within their firing range. Kaka shielded Wu Shuang aside – this was territory for the machine gunners to handle. Short-range combat like this required a break.
The air force had clearly sent its elite forces; the Black Widows could see that people on the ground were aiming at them. The planes flew in parabolas, which prevented large-scale strafing runs and bought them some time.
Kaka patted off the dust from Wu Shuang’s body, "Does it hurt"
"It's not a big deal; there's just one bullet here in my shoulder. Once I remove it, everything will be fine." Wu Shuang said. It wasn’t difficult to endure the pain. Kaka kissed her lips, “I arrived late.”
"Not too late. If you had come later, you would have been picking up my body instead. The timing was just right."
Kaka chuckled and ruffled her hair. The tenderness amidst the chaos was always heartwarming and reassuring.
The Black Widow was cunning, dodging back and forth while ascending out of range; most shooters missed their targets completely. GaoMian was patient, waiting for his moment. He fired manually with pinpoint accuracy, hitting a Black Widow's fuel tank right where it mattered—exactly one centimeter in diameter. The aircraft began smoking and crashed into the distant ravine in flames.
Wu Shuang whistled in admiration; Kaka thought to herself that he truly deserved his reputation as the best sniper, delivering a decisive blow with just one shot.
With one plane down, the remaining Black Widows retreated. Unwilling to engage further, they were replaced by another wave of ground troops. Wu Shuang remarked, "The Americans are really stubborn; losing one aircraft might prompt them to send ten more. They probably aim to trap us here."
"Don't worry, they can't do that. Once Tian Yu arrives, who could possibly hold him back"
Wu Shuang pressed his wound and grimaced, "Oh no, don’t let him shoot down their planes." Kaka merely smiled.
Moyao saw the plane crash too and felt a bit relieved; he knew that Wu Shuang had met up with reinforcements because the range of his sniper rifle wasn't enough to take out a Black Widow. With Kaka and GaoMian around, Moyao no longer worried about Wu Shuang and focused on protecting the precious life in his arms.
Xi Bai was half asleep as night fell.
Suddenly, six fighter jets circled over the southeastern forest; Moyao's heart sank. Armed helicopters and fighter jets were not of the same caliber—the range and maneuverability of ground-to-air weapons made it nearly impossible to take down a fighter jet, especially one of the best in the world. Kaka would likely be frustrated. To shoot down such a plane required ballistic missiles, which they hadn't prepared for because he hadn’t anticipated American air force involvement when he left.
Moyao was just worried when he saw eight high-altitude fighter jets heading southeast in formation; these were the First Terrorist Organization's aircraft. Moyao let out a breath of relief—Ye Tianyu indeed acted with great impact once he decided to move.
The airspace was already a chaotic battlefield, and Mo Yao had no inclination to watch the fight. He quickly carried Mo Xiaobai in a southeasterly direction. That night, Xiaobai's withdrawal symptoms flared up again, forcing Mo Yao to administer another dose. The battle situation in the southeastern forest had become extremely intense. Ye Tianyu originally wanted to resolve the issue with the most peaceful means possible, but Xiaobai couldn’t wait for that option and thus a fight was inevitable, even without direct confrontation. Sometimes, to protect one's family, principles can be set aside.
The first terrorist organization had already initiated negotiations with the US military control center. Ye Tianyu wanted them to retreat; while negotiating, he dispatched an aircraft to hover above the northeastern forest. Mo Yao turned on his red light signal to report their position. Ye Tianyu's plane flew overhead and dropped ropes for them. With all of the US Air Force’s combat strength redirected towards the southeastern direction, it provided Mo Yao with some breathing room. He carried Xiaobai up the rope; its ascent was incredibly swift.
Mo Yao placed Xiaobai down safely. The southeastern area was engulfed in flames and battles. He had already made contact with Kaka to inform them that they could evacuate now. Upon receiving the message, Kaka told him to be careful and advised their group to hold out until dawn.
High-altitude combat, ground forces battling... The entire Mexican forest was like a sea of fire; Mo Yao didn't look any further.
"Fly to Riyadh!"
The pilot received the command and swiftly flew towards the base of the first terrorist organization. To get to Riyadh, they needed to switch to a private plane since flying combat planes in the Middle East would result in their being shot down. Once out of the Mexican forest, things would become easier.
After an hour, they arrived at the base of the first terrorist organization. Ye Tianyu handed over command authority to others and focused on the issue of retreat. He wasn’t busy but had already prepared a private plane for them; Xiaobai was already in a coma as his withdrawal symptoms were becoming increasingly frequent.
"Tianyu, contact Kaka and ask if Wu Shuang can arrive at the base urgently."
Mo Yao said solemnly. He prayed that she hadn't abandoned her post during the chaos.
Ye Tianyu replied, "You guys go to Riyadh first; I'll arrange for them to transport you there immediately. It's too dangerous to stay here."
"No, we have to wait for Wu Shuang. Otherwise, even if Xiaobai makes it to Riyadh, it will be too late."overs.He didn't know where his indulgence towards Wu Shuang came from."Are you comfortable" Without pausing, Wu Shuang asked as she pleased him, her gaze sincere; she always took everything seriously....
