The two-meter-tall wild grass grew in the mud, and as they walked on this muddy ground, it became increasingly tiring.
Su Han was still wearing a white windbreaker and a purple sweater, paired with warm black leggings and white long boots.
However, after accompanying Hao Ren through such a long journey, her white long boots were now covered in mud. Her white windbreaker had turned gray due to rolling on the ground while evading the giant bird's attack.
Mud was smeared across her cheeks as well, but despite this disheveled appearance, it did not detract from her beauty; rather, she looked resolute like a photo shoot portraying a female warrior battling through the jungle.
The journey of over ten kilometers would take several hours even on an open road. In addition to that, in Jiulong Palace filled with ferocious beasts, one had to be constantly vigilant.
These eighth and ninth-stage ferocious beasts already possessed a considerable amount of intelligence but fortunately hadn't undergone shape transformation yet, so they didn’t truly possess wisdom.
The survival environment here was similar to the Demon Sea. However, along their journey through the grasslands, Hao Ren and Su Han did not spot any demon beasts in the shape transformation stage comparable to lesser Demon Kings.
"There should still be tenth-stage demon beasts within Jiulong Palace, but I wonder if there are any in the shape transformation stage." Su Han said as she stepped through the mud with one foot high and another low. She held onto Hao Ren’s hand with her left hand.
"I don’t think so since Jiulong Palace is completely isolated from the outside world, preventing them from undergoing heavenly thunder tribulation for shape transformation," replied Hao Ren.
Su Han looked at Hao Ren with bright eyes. After some thought, she seemed to come to a similar conclusion. She was surprised by how familiar Hao Ren appeared to be with such matters, which she never would have imagined him knowing about.
She couldn’t possibly imagine that after one trip to the Demon Sea, Hao Ren had gained knowledge of the habits and characteristics of demon beasts, especially their tribulation methods. Because of this, when facing these ancient ferocious beasts in Jiulong Palace, he could roughly gauge their detection range and movement patterns, allowing him to choose the safest route towards the mountains ahead.
The more she walked with Hao Ren, the more experienced he seemed and the safer she felt.
With every quick step of her rapid pace, the wound on Su Han’s shoulder pulled sharply, causing intense pain. But gritting her teeth, she didn’t show any signs of it.
"If you can't walk anymore, I'll carry you!" Hao Ren said as he noticed Su Han's steps becoming heavier.
"I'm fine!" Su Han raised her eyebrows in defiance.
She did not want Hao Ren to see her as too weak.
The sky had brightened significantly, though there was no sun here. Hao Ren estimated it was noon already, yet they hadn’t even covered half the distance so far.
If their speed didn't increase soon, it would be impossible to reach the mountains before nightfall. They’d end up surrounded by ferocious beasts in this plain—and more importantly, there was no way to withstand the cold of the night.
Su Han had barely managed to hold on for half a night when they entered Jiulong Palace yesterday; she wasn’t sure if she could endure another night with today's injuries and exhaustion.
The frigid chill in Jiulong Palace was bone-chilling. Combined with the humid mist settling over the plain, no matter how much one layered up, it wouldn't help at all.
They needed to quicken their pace now.
Hao Ren had made up his mind and suddenly grabbed Su Han's left hand, pulling her into his arms. He then reached out with his own left hand and picked up Su Han’s legs without any warning.
Su Han was directly scooped up by him without any preparation.
Hao Ren lightly tossed Su Han over his shoulder and put her on the back.
"You!" Su Han exclaimed in surprise and embarrassment when Hao Ren suddenly picked her up.
Outside, he always treated her with utmost respect and never dared to be rude. But here inside Jiulong Palace, he was acting so rough!
Holding onto Su Han’s plump thighs, Hao Ren bent slightly at the waist, dashing forward like an arrow released from a bow.
With quick steps on the muddy ground and his body tilted forty-five degrees forward, Hao Ren sped through the thick grass.
The grayish-white sword beams followed him closely as if hundreds of surveillance cameras were observing their surroundings.
Lying prone on Hao Ren’s back, Su Han felt her chest repeatedly hitting his back, causing her face to flush. She quickly grabbed Hao Ren's neck and pressed against him tightly.
She didn't want Hao Ren to carry her not only out of self-respect but also because she was worried about overexerting him.
However, it seemed that this latter concern was unnecessary!
Hao Ren’s stamina far exceeded her expectations!
In the chaotic atmosphere of Jiulong Palace, Hao Ren felt at ease. While his realm wasn’t as high as those demon beasts, he didn't dare to recklessly engage in battle.
He breathed deeply while maintaining a high-speed pace.
This was Su Han’s first time being carried by a man. Even though she knew they shouldn’t overthink things here, her face couldn’t help but turn red.
Hao Ren was becoming increasingly presumptuous! He forced his will upon hers!
She fumed inwardly while watching Hao Ren sprint through the grass at a hundred-meter dash speed. She had to admire his incredible stamina despite her anger.
One day, she’d settle this score with him! Su Han clenched her fists and tightened her arms around Hao Ren’s neck even more, pressing her soft yet full chest against his back harder.
Swoosh!
Hao Ren lightly leaped over a stone.
His movements were nimble as if he had been living in the mountains all along.
Su Han’s body bounced, then pressed against Hao Ren's back again. She felt her chest go numb and hurt; she wished to walk on her own legs instead. But Hao Ren firmly held onto her legs and ran so fast that there was no chance for her to get down from his back.
After sending the sword beams ahead to scout, Hao Ren suddenly sidestepped to avoid a hidden swamp pond in the grass.
Su Han’s body suddenly swung outward then inward. Her chest rubbed against Hao Ren's back vigorously; she knew he could feel it and her face flushed even more.
Was he doing this on purpose
Su Han clenched her teeth, but seeing the intense expression on Hao Ren’s face made her dismiss that thought.
In Jiulong Palace, various ferocious beasts lurked everywhere. Hao Ren was sprinting for his life; how could he think of such things
If Hao Ren were truly a lecher, given the prolonged time with Xie Yujia and the Lu sisters, he wouldn’t have held back—especially regarding Xie Yujia.
But before entering Jiulong Palace, she had clearly felt that Hao Ren was still in his original pure state.
Bang!
Hao Ren’s sword beam suddenly flew towards the side, blasting a two-meter tall black ferocious beast.
Hao Ren, carrying Su Han, leaped lightly and rushed out for dozens of meters. The group of sword beams turned around to strike again, sending a black three-tailed fierce tiger lurking in the grass on the left flying away.
Dada dada!
Hao Ren quickened his steps and sprinted madly.
Su Han, who was momentarily distracted, hurriedly hugged Hao Ren tightly.
Being carried by Hao Ren made her too comfortable, causing her to lower her guard and start daydreaming. Su Han felt that she shouldn’t have let her guard down.
The two of them were like small animals running around in tall grass over two meters high, making the wild grass shake.
Two three-tailed black tigers with black flames coming out of their nostrils pounced toward the shaking grass. Using their exceptional hunting skills, they surrounded the area from front and back.
Holding Su Han on his back, Hao Ren’s feet moved at a high frequency as if powered by small motors.
Roar!
The two black tigers jumped up simultaneously and finally pounced toward where the tall grass was shaking.
A bright flash could be seen before sword beams shot out from the tall grass, disappearing gradually.
Su Han looked back to see the two black tigers leaping high in the direction they were coming from. She couldn’t help but admire Hao Ren’s quick thinking and tactics.
He used his sword beams to move the grass and lead the two black tigers away, allowing them to escape safely from the encirclement of these two mysterious level fierce beasts.
Hao Ren was both brave and smart. Su Han had a higher opinion of him for that.
"We’ve reached our limit." Hao Ren suddenly bent down. Su Han slid off his back but then Hao Ren caught her, turned her around to hug her waist, and set her down gently on the ground.
Su Han gritted her teeth at him, feeling both angry and helpless.
However, when she followed his gaze, she saw that they had reached the edge of the marshy tall grass in this vast plain. Beyond was an expansive open field.
The marshy tall grass might hide all sorts of fierce beasts, but it would be hard for them to attract the attention of giant fierce beasts here. However, under these bright daylight conditions on such a wide-open landscape, getting to the other side of the mountains would not be easy at all!
But if they waited until midnight, in addition to bone-chilling coldness, navigating through this land full of fierce beast habitats under cover of darkness was also an extremely difficult challenge.
"There are still roughly…" Hao Ren looked ahead and said, "five or six kilometers left."
When he saw the Azure Dragon Temple flying past on the other side of the mountains, Hao Ren optimistically estimated that there might not be many fierce beasts over there. If they could get through this last stretch, it would probably be safer.
He waved his hand and the chaotic sword qi scattered in midair returned to his palm.
"How about… rushing straight through" Hao Ren asked Su Han, looking at her solemn face.
"What are your chances of success" Su Han’s expression darkened as she asked.
"About 30%." Hao Ren answered honestly.
Given his Daoist Realm Upper Grade level and the speed he could achieve by riding on sword qi, it would be roughly equivalent to that of a Nascent Soul cultivator’s teleportation speed.
The fierce beasts in the Nine Dragons Palace seemed large but slow, so there was some chance of success if they rushed straight through.
"Let's go!" Su Han made her decision and stood behind Hao Ren, wrapping both arms around his torso.
"Alright!" Sword qi in Hao Ren’s palm moved to the bottom of his feet instantly, lifting up Hao Ren and Su Han.
"Hold tight!" Hao Ren reminded her.
Su Han blushed but thought that he didn’t need to remind her! She pressed her chest against Hao Ren’s back tightly, put her chin on his shoulder, and had her ears almost touching him.
“Lift off!” Hao Ren took aim at the fierce beasts in the open field before launching a grayish white barrier and rushing toward the distant mountains.
True to Hao Ren’s expectations, these fierce beasts in the Nine Dragons Palace could see through his chaotic sword qi barrier easily. They let out several angry roars as they rushed toward him.
Each of these fierce beasts had its own territory and would fight over territorial disputes endlessly. Now that two cultivators suddenly intruded into their territory, Hao Ren and Su Han became the first targets for them to eliminate!
Hao Ren guessed that this barrier meant nothing to them but wrongly underestimated their speed!
These seemingly sluggish giant fierce beasts moved like they were riding on clouds when they started moving. In an instant, they rushed out thousands of meters!
Fierce beasts that had been far away in a short blink arrived within hundreds of meters from Hao Ren!
Hao Ren’s teleportation speed as a Nascent Soul cultivator couldn’t even compare to theirs!
Almost simultaneously, all sorts of powers and abilities flashed out from their claws, eyes, mouths.
Eight- or nine-stage fierce beasts might not be fully intelligent yet but had already gained battle experience and become the top in their territories!
Hao Ren took a deep breath of the rich chaotic primordial energy before finally forcing his innate spiritual qi to come out, running wild as he desperately used it.
These were the five elements’ spirit power that Hao Ren had cultivated himself before the “poison pill plan” was lifted by Lu Family’s sisters. Later when his realm recovered, this spirit power transformed into unique innate spirit energy which was extremely precious every single bit of.
However, in such a critical moment like now, he also needed to use it!
Hao Ren’s gray sword qi underfoot swung out a streak of grayish white light, increasing his speed more than double!
Su Han hugged Hao Ren tightly, not expecting him to have this move. But she could feel that Hao Ren was using the finest part of his innate spirit energy, which might damage both his realm and body!
"Go!"
Hao Ren’s gray sword beams shot out.
Zhao Haoran’s millennium cultivation power must be released now as well!
Hundreds of dazzling sword beams with thick chaotic thunder power surged, instantly scattering toward the dozen high-level fierce beasts surrounding them!
The instant Hao Ren and Su Han’s sword qi broke through their encirclement and rushed out, carrying them along!
Hiss…Hao Ren’s sword beams fell like meteors into the distant mountains.
These injured fierce beasts immediately went berserk, attacking each other while tearing away. The previously peaceful field became chaotic instantly.
And Hao Ren and Su Han had long left behind the peak, dropping to the other side of the mountain range.
Su Han rolled on a rock several times, her delicate skin being cut up in many places. And Hao Ren’s sword beams stuck straight into a cliff, his body crashing against a rock to form a deep pit.
The panicked Su Han didn’t care about the burning pain from her scratches but quickly drew out her Jadeite Sword from her waist and climbed over rocks to run beside Hao Ren.
"Huh... It's okay!" Hao Ren, who had been pushed out of the deep pit, was covered in tiny stone fragments. He flashed a smile at Su Han.
Su Han held onto Hao Ren as her tense heart finally dropped.
Her face turned stern again as she stood up to survey the situation on this side of the mountain range.
The area was also covered in vast grasslands, but there wasn't a single ferocious beast in sight. It seemed that all the beasts were gathered on the other side of the mountains.
A black ancestral dragon temple flew quickly through the sky at an extremely fast speed, and far away, another small black dot was moving—definitely another flying ancestral dragon temple.
Hao Ren patted his face to remove the stone fragments and stood beside Su Han to observe the situation on this side of the mountain range too.
He had thought that his cultivation would suffer greatly, but in reality, although his body had suffered some damage, the innate spirit energy within him was quickly replenished by the chaotic primordial qi.
In this Nine-Dragon Palace, the thick chaotic primordial qi seemed endless. With Hao Ren's current level of cultivation, even if he squandered it, as long as he opened his meridians, they would be filled with abundant chaotic primordial qi from the outside!
A natural place for training!
Su Han turned her head to see Hao Ren looking refreshed and energetic in an instant. She thought that he really was a monster; she had been right to bring him along.
Thinking back on her panic earlier, she instantly blushed red.
"Take another look at the direction we’re heading in and tell me how we should proceed next," Hao Ren asked calmly.
"Mm-hmm." Su Han nodded as she carefully observed the terrain and topography of this side of the mountain range.
She had reviewed almost all the Dragon God Temple’s documents in the Nine-Dragon Palace, including some that only vice temple masters could access. Therefore, even though it was her first time at the Nine-Dragon Palace, she had a rough idea of what to expect.
"The place I’m going is the Yuanlong Hall; it's a large black hall. You must have been there before." Su Han said.
Hao Ren thought back and remembered that when he went through his trials in the Nine-Dragon Palace, the first place he had entered was also a black giant hall where the Dragon God was enshrined.
"From the trajectory of the smaller ancestral dragon temples flying by, Yuanlong Hall should be at the center of the palace and is likely the central hub of the Nine-Dragon Palace’s array formation," Su Han added.
"Let's go then." Hao Ren didn't waste any more words as he took Su Han’s hand and led her down the mountain.
This section of the mountains divided a large plain into two areas—one side was populated by various ferocious beasts, while the other remained incredibly tranquil.
Hao Ren guessed that when they first entered the Nine-Dragon Palace, they must have landed within an area protected by ancestral dragon temples.
Su Han looked sideways at Hao Ren and was somewhat speechless. There were no mists or poisonous vapors here, nor any ferocious beasts moving around; she didn't see a need for them to hold hands. But being pulled along by Hao Ren strangely did not bother her internally.
As if in just half a day, she had become used to him leading the way.
The green plain at the foot of the mountain was indeed picturesque with various hills dotted around and flowers and grasses covering the mountains and rivers. The air felt very comfortable too.
"It will be dark in a few hours, we should find somewhere to rest," Su Han reminded Hao Ren after they had walked for several hours.
In this already safe area, she allowed him to lead her by the hand as if it was a given that their relationship would develop further.
"Okay, let's make camp over there." Hao Ren nodded and pointed at a nearby hilltop.
"Alright!" Su Han took the opportunity to pull her hand out of his grasp and purposely walked ahead several steps.
Hao Ren followed after and moved to stand beside her again. He wasn't intentionally trying to take advantage of Su Han, nor was he seeking to strengthen their relationship. He just thought that with so many dangers in the Nine-Dragon Palace, holding onto her would allow him a quicker reaction time to protect her.
Of course… Holding onto her delicate hand indeed felt quite nice… As predicted by Su Han, the sky started to darken gradually. They climbed up a gentle slope toward the hilltop and searched for a suitable place to rest for the night.
"Celestial Heart Bamboo!"
Su Han’s eyes lit up as they walked ahead.
Amidst the mountain hollow, several dozen emerald-green bamboos swayed in the wind.
Celestial Heart Bamboo was an excellent material for crafting sword-shaped magical treasures. However, it had long since become extinct outside of this place. Su Han had always wanted such a piece of material but had searched far and wide without finding any.
Who knew that within the Nine-Dragon Palace, she would suddenly discover several dozen well-grown Celestial Heart Bamboos!
Celestial Heart Bamboo grew extremely slowly, only growing an inch every hundred years. But these bamboos were all over a meter tall! Su Han was excited as she ran up and used her emerald jade sword to cut down one of the bamboos.
Sword-shaped magical treasures made from Celestial Heart Bamboo were very light, but the bamboo itself was fragile and could be easily broken by ordinary sharp tools. This led to their extinction.
Hao Ren had never seen Su Han this excited before; he reluctantly followed her over.
Su Han inserted her jade sword back into its sheath at her waist, then carefully picked up two pieces of bamboo to hand over to Hao Ren for storage in his bracelet space. Suddenly, a black beetle emerged from the soft soil where the bamboo was rooted!
This beetle was about the size of a palm and upon breaking through the surface, it instantly expanded, revealing sharp blades like those of a praying mantis.
Su Han was startled but reacted quickly to draw her jade sword out and block the bizarre beetle’s half-meter-long black blade!
Hisss! The beetle's forelimb blade cut across Su Han’s calf, leaving a long bloody gash behind.
Bang!
In that critical moment, Hao Ren’s sword light suddenly flashed over from above her shoulder, carrying the force of chaotic thunder qi to cleave the beetle in half!
The black beetle's body oozed out a thick black fluid as Su Han hurriedly picked up two pieces of Celestial Heart Bamboo and stepped back into Hao Ren’s arms.
In her terrified expression, she was no different from any girl who had suddenly been scared.
"It's okay now, it's okay…" Hao Ren held onto her with both hands, pressing his lips to Su Han’s ear as he comforted her like a little girl.
The soil where the Celestial Heart Bamboo grew was gradually turning black from the beetle’s fluid. The fragile bamboo also turned black and began to wilt before falling to pieces.
Su Han struggled to adjust her breathing until she finally calmed down. If Hao Ren had been a moment slower, Su Han would have died from the second blow of the bizarre beetle's blade.
"I checked out the terrain and think it’s suitable for resting there," Hao Ren gently patted her hand and said softly.
“Oh…” Su Han quickly popped out of Hao Ren’s embrace. Seeing him already walking ahead, she thought for a moment before jogging over to lightly grasp his wrist.
While there were no ferocious beasts here, it didn’t mean the area was completely safe. Su Han followed Hao Ren like a little girl who had been scolded.
Hao Ren looked at her limping right foot, hesitated for half a second, and suddenly bent down to pick her up in his arms.
In the Nine Dragons Palace, Su Han wasn’t as domineering as she was outside, which made him want to protect her.
He also knew that if he truly wanted to protect someone like Su Han, he had to be straightforward and stubborn. Because asking for her opinion would definitely make her consider her own dignity.
Su Han was carried in his arms by force. She bit down on her lip, her shoulders slightly struggling, but she didn’t know what to do.
To Su Han’s surprise, Hao Ren hugged her tighter and used one hand to suddenly release dozens of sword beams, creating a small cave about five meters deep within the solid stone.
Hao Ren took large steps forward, carrying Su Han into the cave, making her sit inside. He then took out the purple-gold hairpin from Su Han’s hair and stuck it at the entrance to the cave as a deterrent.
During the day when the strange bird attacked Su Han, perhaps it sensed the high-level demonic beast aura on the purple-gold hairpin, causing its movements to be slightly hesitant. This eventually allowed Hao Ren to rescue Su Han.
Su Han sat alone inside the cave and saw that her wound had some black blood flowing out of it, knowing something was seriously wrong.
Hao Ren returned to the cave with his arms full of dry grass and branches.
He released a small palm-sized thunderbolt, igniting everything in one go. The sky outside quickly turned dark, while the firelight inside the cave illuminated Hao Ren’s and Su Han’s faces.
"Are you okay Your foot…" Hao Ren laid down more dry grass on the ground before sitting beside her, taking off her white boots and pulling up her leggings to look at her injured calf.
He saw a deep wound on her calf, with red blood mixed with black traces flowing out. The floor was already covered in a puddle of black blood, indicating Su Han had treated the wound herself while Hao Ren was gone collecting branches.
"The poison hasn’t been fully expelled." Hao Ren looked at Su Han’s delicate face and lowered his head to kiss her smooth calf made of jade.
"Stop…" Before she could finish, intense pain shot through her heart. She frowned and gritted her teeth in pain.
Spurting out a mouthful of blood, Hao Ren immediately leaned down and sucked it up for a while. Until the blood he spat out was no longer mixed with black traces, he finally relaxed, taking an antidote pill from his Spatial Ring and splitting it into two halves: one to give Su Han, the other crushed and applied on her wound.
Su Han opened her mouth and swallowed the antidote pill Hao Ren gave her before looking at him with a tumultuous heart.
"It’s poisonous," she said after several seconds of hesitation.
"I can cultivate to detoxify. It’s fine." Said Hao Ren as he started his cultivation routine.
Su Han helplessly looked at him. A fourth-grade antidote pill was very advanced, but it might not be effective against the strange insects in the Nine Dragons Palace.
"Is your pain manageable" Hao Ren asked her after opening his eyes again.
"It’s fine," Su Han replied with a shake of her head.
"Alright." Satisfied, Hao Ren nodded and closed his eyes to continue cultivating.
Su Han quietly observed him while exhaling softly. Without spiritual energy, she couldn’t cultivate or sleep.
In the flickering firelight, Hao Ren’s back against the rock wall appeared towering and upright.
Feeling a sudden urge, Su Han crawled into Hao Ren’s arms. As Hao Ren was in the middle of cultivation, he suddenly fell onto the ground when she pounced on him.
Su Han landed on Hao Ren’s chest with her lips touching his collarbone before raising them slightly to kiss his chin. Then, as if making a decision, she gently kissed his lips.
She wore an open coat over a purple sweater and pressed tightly against Hao Ren, causing him to feel the incredible softness and elasticity of her body with every movement.
Su Han bit on Hao Ren’s lip while pulling him closer from behind. In just one day, she seemed to have truly come to rely on Hao Ren.
Crackling sounds came from the burning campfire as Hao Ren held onto her slim waist and felt her smooth skin under the fuzzy sweater.
Hao Ren suddenly pushed Su Han up. Before she could react, he flipped himself over to press against her again.
Su Han’s soft body landed on her open coat, revealing her elegant silhouette in the purple sweater. Hao Ren pressed onto her, biting her lip. She struggled but couldn’t break free and closed her eyes instead.
Their lips met passionately while their tongues touched softly. Su Han experienced feelings she’d never had before. Her breathing grew heavier as her mind was thrown into chaos.
What protected her during the day now pressed down on her, causing even more panic when Hao Ren’s cold right hand reached through an opening in her sweater to grasp her chest firmly.
Su Han’s shoulders trembled slightly as an electric sensation shot up from her feet to her head. She saw that Hao Ren was a man and not just a boy today, feeling tense with each movement he made.
She wanted to cry out softly but couldn’t since Hao Ren covered both her lips and tongue with his own. The pressure of this situation made her body even more taut than before.
Hao Ren’s left hand pulled up her sweater, revealing half of her beautiful body in the firelight.
Knowing she couldn’t stop him now, Su Han closed her eyes tightly as Hao Ren kissed her lips and neck. The power within her needed release, causing a surge of emotions to overwhelm her.
The black leggings were pushed aside to reveal white thighs, still beautiful despite the slight bruising. Hao Ren pulled out both her hands from under the coat’s sleeves before removing her sweater entirely, leaving only her arms laid elegantly by her sides.
Hao Ren kissed her gently while feeling a mix of excitement and caution. He treated her like an exquisite piece of art he didn’t want to break.
Su Han closed her eyes, touching Hao Ren’s firm chest before trailing her hands down his muscular back and strong buttocks. Her fingers trembled as she felt him through her skin.
Hao Ren held Su Han’s neck with one arm while leaning against half of her body, gently rubbing the fullest part of her. He kissed her lips to seal off her breath completely.
Worried that Su Han might suddenly stop him, Hao Ren decisively removed her last defenses with his left hand, making a final effort at this moment.
Su Han’s shoulders rose slightly as she closed her eyes and bit down on Hao Ren’s lips in frustration. But Hao Ren wouldn’t let go of the opportunity, pulling Su Han completely into his arms.
The flames flickered brightly against the uneven rock wall, casting shadows that moved silently like a light drizzle.Wood Dragon lineage on Jade Emperor Mountain, we will do our best," this senior elder bowed toward Zhao Guang and continued.Zhao Guang replied, "Senior Elder Song is too kind. We dragon tribes are one...
